Company Profile - Tidy Tushees

Tidy Tushees Diaper Service was founded in April 2008 and since that time the company has saved more than 50,000 diapers from local landfills. I have a two year old son who was been the inspiration for starting the local diaper service and retailing of natural parenting products.

“We made the decision to cloth diaper our son before he was born. I had been allergic to disposables as a child and my husband Glenn and I weren’t comfortable with the possible risks associated with the plastics and chemicals in disposable diapers. Not to mention the environmental impact of all of those diapers in the landfill and the tonnes of untreated human waste being disposed of each year. I also didn’t think it was “that big of a deal” to cloth diaper. After all, our parents managed!”

When I was first researching the world of cloth diapers in preparation for Tyson’s birth, I was completely overwhelmed with the number of choices available. Gone were the days of pinning and folding and now there was a whole language of Fitted’s, AIO’s, Longies and Soakers! I didn’t know where to start and I couldn’t seem to find any local resources. I am thrilled to be able to provide not only the service and products, but support to other families who want to make healthier choices.

Our goal is to help families succeed with cloth diapering. Whether they choose to let us do the dirty work for them or they need help troubleshooting their cloth diapering system, we are here to work with them!

Tidy Tushees is Kelowna’s only diaper service and our online store makes purchasing a wide variety of natural parenting products easy with free local delivery. Free in-home, telephone or email consultations available along with an affordable Try Before You Buy program. Additional company information can be obtained at TidyTushees.ca

All Natural Lip Moisturizer

Sun care for lips is often overlooked.  We hear so much about sunscreen, hats and sunglasses and tend to forget that our lips get a lot of sun exposure.  Not using an SPF balm can lead to lip cancer and make our lips more prone to aging, yikes!

Lip gloss is especially bad at attracting sunlight.  With this in mind I picked up an SPF 15 lip moisturizer from a leading company.  After removing the fancy packing when I got home, the words ‘Warning: If swallowed contact a poison control center right away’ certainly got my attention.  Needless to say I didn’t use it and found some Badger lip balm at Nature’s Fare.  It is a natural, chemical free SPF 15 lip balm that is safe for children too.

Whatever you decide to choose, please check the label!

Company Profile - Lalabee Bathworks

Lalabee Bathworks is a local company that handcrafts organic skincare for Mommy & Baby. All our products are made in Kelowna using only certified organic and natural ingredients, bought from local farms and suppliers as much as possible.

We started off in 2007 as Lalabee Baby, offering affordable organic alternatives to infant skincare. Our Bottom Balm (for diaper rash and eczema) is still our best selling product.  A few months later we added our organic Mommy Line, as there was a definite gap in the market for Canadian made organic skincare for Moms.

Lalabee Bathworks strives to be environmentally responsible by not using plastic containers for our products, recycling all our packaging and donating to Heifer International.  Plus we use as many organic ingredients as possible.  You can find our skincare in over fifty stores across Canada and locally at The Natural Baby Shop, Choices Market and Tidy Tushees.
